NTCH provides its formal education activities through its annual conference. The program features both outside experts and members presenting a variety of technical and professional topics ranging from business valuation to fiduciary law updates. In addition, members actively participate in "share and compare" sessions, which provide a forum to discuss issues currently facing NTCH members and the trust industry.

A number of members hold professional designations from financial and fiduciary institutes, including ASA, CPA, CBA, CFA and CVA. Many of the corresponding professional institutes award continuing education credits for NTCH conference programs.

NTCH communicates with its members through periodic newsletters, a membership directory and special communications programs. It conducts an annual performance standards survey and is compiling a library of state laws on fiduciary powers. Its Legislative Committee monitors environmental legislation and regulation at the federal and state levels and actively participates in efforts to improve the legislative climate for fiduciaries.
